SSA Disability Categories: Find Your Condition

Use this chart to find the SSA Blue Book category that matches a condition, then open the explainer when we have one. Empty cells are waiting on articles — not missing listings.

This is an overview of the Social Security Administration's Listing of Impairments — informally called the Blue Book. SSA uses these adult medical categories when it evaluates disability claims. It is a map of the listings, not a substitute for SSA's official Blue Book.

This is for informational purposes only. It is not medical, legal, or benefits advice. For a diagnosis or a claim decision, talk to a qualified professional and use SSA's current listings. Categories can include additional subtypes.
