About Insight Press

Government programs in the U.S. — housing assistance, healthcare coverage, tax credits, welfare benefits — are run by dozens of different federal, state, and local agencies, each with their own forms, deadlines, and jargon. Insight Press exists to translate that into something a normal person can actually use: what a program does, who qualifies, what changes this year, and what happens if you miss a deadline.

We're not a government agency, a law firm, or a financial advisory firm, and nothing here is legal, tax, or medical advice — think of us as the plain-English starting point before you talk to the professional or agency who handles your specific case.

How we work

Every article is built from primary sources — federal agency guidance, state program pages, and official statutes — rather than rewritten from other blogs. Programs like these change constantly: income limits get adjusted, application windows shift, and entire provisions can expire or get renewed by Congress. When that happens to something we've covered, we go back and update the article rather than leaving outdated numbers live.

Where a topic is genuinely dependent on someone's individual situation — an unusual visa category, a complicated tax position, a specific medical diagnosis — we say so directly and point readers toward a qualified professional instead of guessing on their behalf.

Our editors

Stories are bylined to individual editors — not an anonymous staff desk. Meet Thomas E. Wright (housing & tax) and Sarah M. Jenkins (healthcare & welfare), including their verification principles and story archives.

How this site is funded

Insight Press is supported by advertising. Ads are clearly labeled and never influence which topics we cover or what we say about them — if a program isn't worth applying for, or a product isn't worth buying, we say that too.

Questions or corrections

Rules change, and we don't always catch it the same day. If you spot something outdated or think we got a detail wrong, we want to know — see the Feedback form or the Contact page.
