Broad-based categorical eligibility (BBCE)
A state option that relaxes SNAP's gross income and asset limits.
Under BBCE, states confer SNAP categorical eligibility on households that receive a TANF-funded benefit, which lets the state raise the gross income limit (up to 200% of poverty) and drop the asset test.
More than 40 states use some form of BBCE — one reason a $0 result on a federal-formula calculator does not necessarily mean a denial in your state.
